BETRAYAL OF OATHS

February 14, 2021-- Lincoln’s Birthday, marked the date that the ‘Republican’ party reached the very bottom of the cesspool of corruption and depravity they have created. Forty-three feckless cowardly ‘Republican’ senators voted to acquit Donald Trump of inciting the insurrection and January 6th attacks on the US capitol during the certification of the 2020 electoral college vote -- a day of infamy. in spite of overwhelming evidence of Trump’s guilt, these senators led by ex-Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell violated and dishonored their sworn oaths to 1} uphold the constitution of the US; and 2} be impartial jurors in his impeachment trial. To their credit, seven honorable Republicans jointed all Democratic senators voting to convict Trump based on that evidence.

In an incredible act of hypocrisy, after joining most of his ‘Republican colleagues’ in the disgusting vote to acquit Trump, McConnell, newly reelected to another six-year term, made a forceful condemnation of Trump’s traitorous attempts to stay in power, echoing all the charges that the House trial managers had presented. At the end of this ‘noble’ speech, McConnell justified his ‘no’ vote hiding behind a contrived claim that the senate could not convict an ex-president for crimes committed while in office, even though impeached by the House before his term was up. Those Senators, who aided and abetted Trump’s repeated heinous crimes, have forfeited their right to hold public office, and each and every one of them should be held accountable for profaning, their oath and recalled or voted out of office for their cowardly fear and support of the Trump MAGA mob. They will forever be enshrined in the Reublican Hall of Shame!
